Once you've started your claim with TaxPro, your portal shows a simple checklist — most people finish in under 15 minutes, and your dedicated tax specialist is on hand throughout.
Here are the steps you'll complete:
Addresses — add your home and work address (needed before we can submit). Use the same home address HMRC holds for you, or your claim can be delayed.
Claim Agreement — review and e-sign your agreement so we can act for you with HMRC.
Employment History — securely connect to HMRC to import your jobs automatically (saves you 10+ minutes — no digging out payslips).
Banking — add the bank account where you'd like your refund paid.
Travel & Mileage — add work trips, fuel, parking and meals (most people claim £200+ here).
Other Expenses — tools, uniform, training and more (average claim around £150).
Additional Info — only if it applies to you: side income, investments or other deductions.
Documents — upload your work contract (needed before submission).
As you complete the steps we calculate your estimated refund. When everything's done, our tax experts review it, send you an estimate to approve, then submit to HMRC. HMRC processing usually takes 1 to 3 weeks, and once HMRC releases your rebate we pay you within 2 to 3 working days.
If this is your first claim with us, HMRC also needs to set you up on their system first, and they do that by post. That part commonly takes 5 to 8 weeks, so most first-time claims complete in around 5 to 8 weeks end to end. Enter each number the day the letter arrives and you'll shave weeks off.
